When we say “Lord have Mercy, Christ have Mercy, Lord have Mercy”: we come together in the presence of God with the angels and saints and ask Him to show us His mercy and grant us His salvation. Like the parable of the Prodigal Son, God sees the good in our hearts as well as our contrition. Kyrie Eleison is Greek for “Lord have Mercy”.
