Feasts of the Week:

Mon. 22nd The Queenship of Mary. This memorial is placed on this date to stress the connection of the coronation of Mary as Queen of heaven and earth with the Feast of the assumption one week ago.

Tues. 23rd St. Eugene (Eoghan) lived in the sixth century and was said to have been taken by pirates to Britain. On obtaining his freedom, he went to study at Canidida Casa. Returning to Ireland he made a foundation at Kilnamanagh in the Wicklow hills, but his principal foundation was at Ardstraw, Co. Tyrone.

Wed. 24th St. Bartholomew’s name occurs in the three synoptic Gospels only in the list of the Apostles. He is probably to be identified with Nathanael of Cana, whom Philip brings to Our Lord. He preached the Gospel in India and is the patron saint of plasters, tanners and leather workers.

Sat. 27th St. Monica, 332-387, converted her pagan husband Patricius to the faith. By her prayers and tears she brought her son, St. Augustine to Christianity and to live a moral life. She is the patron saint of mothers.
