Fermoy Conference of St. Vincent de Paul:
In the final week coming up to Christmas, many extra demands will be made on the resources of The St. Vincent de Paul Society. The Members of The Fermoy Conference appeal to your generosity so that they on your behalf can help those who are in most need in our community this Christmas time.

This year’s Christmas Carol Service and The Closing Ceremony of The Bi-Centenary Celebrations of St. Patrick’s Church (1811 – 2011) will take place on this Sunday 18th December in St. Patrick’s Church at 7.30pm. You are all very welcome to this wonderful evening of Praise & Thanksgiving to God as The Birth of His Only Begotten Son draws near.

Christmas Day Masses at 10.30am & 12noon St. Patrick’s.

The 50th International Eucharistic Congress takes place in Ireland in June 2012. Preparations for this great occasion are well under way. As part of the journey towards the Eucharistic Congress, The Congress Bell is travelling the length and breath of Ireland. The Congress Bell will be visiting The Diocese of Cloyne between the 12th to the 27th December. The Congress Bell will be in Fermoy on 20th December. During its stay in Fermoy the Parishes of Fermoy, Rathcormac, Castlelyons, Kilworth, Conna and Ballyhooly are invited to take part in the ceremonies organised for the visit of the Bell. The Bell will arrive at St. Patrick’s Parish Church at 4.30pm on Tuesday 20th December. There will be a welcoming ceremony which will include Evening Prayer. At 8.00pm on Tuesday, there will be a Penitential Service. The Bell will depart from Fermoy on Wednesday 21st December at 11.30am. The Bell is a call to come together to celebrate and to listen to Christ in his Word and to celebrate his love in The Eucharist.

A Word of Thanks from The Mayor of Fermoy:
Cllr. Michael Hanley, Mayor of Fermoy, wishes to express his sincere thanks to everyone who was involved in The Mayor’s Christmas Concert which was held in St. Patrick’s Church on December 6th. Thanks also to everyone who supported the concert. The night was a tremendous success. After the expenses of the night were paid a cheque for €3,000 was presented during the week to The Fermoy Conference of St. Vincent de Paul.

The newly formed Irish Group will meet in Grand Hotel on Wednesday night next (Dec. 21st)at usual time 8.30pm for the ‘blas’ of the Christmas cuppa and a mince pie “as Ghaeilge”! Do drop in and join us, céad míle fáilte to all .

The Goal Mile for Fermoy will be held on Christmas Morning, December 25th at 11.30am. The Town Park will be the venue. This will be the 2nd Goal Mile held in Fermoy. Organiser Nelius O’ Brien said “it is hoped that the change of venue will allow more walkers and families to participate in a safe environment. Goal undertakes work in many areas of the world which are suffering starvation and the effects of dramatic environmental events. Goal Volunteers and Local Volunteers are currently working in 13 countries including Haiti, Sudan, Ethiopia, India & Pakistan”. A collection will take place on the morning of the run and any donations large or small would be greatly appreciated.
